The dual syringe pump's wide range of delivery rates, from .01 to 1,200 milliliters per hour (ml/hr), is particularly appropriate for delivery of injectable hypnotics, analgesics and muscle relaxants, such as propofol, alfentanil; remifentanil and cisatracurium increasingly used in anesthesia. A neonatal version, which can calculate weight ranges down to 10-gram increments and has a maximum rate of 300 ml/hr, is also available. In addition, the two independent syringe pumps are well-suited to treating critical care patients, who typically receive from two to eight different drug infusions.
